The Borneo Tropical Rain Forest
"Life on earth is not evenly spread around our planet. Borneo... is one of its richest treasure-houses"  -David Attenborough

Value

In addition to ecotourism, the Borneo rainforest has an intrinsic value of its own. This biodiverse area of thousands of organisms is filled with exotic wildlife and scenery. Scientists are still discovering new species at an astounding rate although the forest is vanishing and have found new medical uses of small shrubs and herbs; promising medical discoveries have the potential to raise revenue for future generations in addition to curing disease-stricken people.

All of this is at risk with the increasing loss of the Borneo. It is fragile. And surprisingly, the soil in most of this rainforest is infertile. It takes decades for complex ecosystems such as the Borneo to develop and function.
